Bridgett Massengill is founder and Principal of Massengill Consulting, providing communities with focused strategies for the redevelopment and revitalization of their historic commercial districts.
Since establishing her consulting firm in 2007, Bridgett has helped numerous communities work towards their downtown redevelopment goals by developing financial incentive packages for their downtown, assisting with the development of tax increment financing as a tool for downtown redevelopment growth, providing board training for focused downtown development work plans, and most recently, assisting 22 communities develop a basic downtown revitalization program based on Main Street's Four Point Approach(R).
Prior to forming her own business, Bridgett served as the executive director of the Johnson City Development Authority, a quasi-governmental agency and state and nationally Main Street Certified program, focused on the redevelopment of the central business district core. Prior to that, she served as a Legislative Budget Analysis Specialist with the Tennessee General Assembly, analyzing Tennessee's multi-billion budget and various economic development programs. She began her career at the Office of the Mayor in Chattanooga, TN during a time when the city's downtown was being reshaped.
With a Master's degree in Public Administration: Planning and Development from East Tennessee State Unversity, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee in Chattanoga, Bridgett has taken her 15 years of governmental, economic development and Main Street experience into the consulting world, helping communities reach their goals for a better, more vibrant place.
