Bridgett Massengill is founder and President of Massengill Consulting, providing innovative solutions to downtown development. Prior to forming her own business, Bridgett served as Executive Director of the Johnson City Development Authority in Johnson City, Tennessee where she successfully initiated the city’s first Tax Increment Financing District, achieved Main Street Certification, branded the downtown area and pioneered the Downtown Redevelopment Loan Program, obtaining nearly half a million dollars from eight local banks for low interest capital loans to downtown businesses.
Prior to her time as Executive Director, she spent over 5 years with the Tennessee State Legislature, analyzing a multi-billion dollar state budget and economic development policies with the Office of Legislative Budget Analysis and spent time serving in the Senate Majority Leader's Office. Before embarking into state government, she served as staff with the Office of the Mayor of Chattanooga, Tennessee during a time when the city’s downtown was being reshaped.
With a Master's degree in Public Administration: Planning and Development from East Tennessee State Unversity, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, Bridgett uses her strong background to create strategies and then lead communities through economic development processes and work plans, present visionary, knowledge-based presentations and author guidelines, master plan and visionary documents on how communities can become their very best by starting first with their downtown.
Bridgett now enjoys taking her years of in-the-field experience into the consulting world, pulling together resource teams and helping communities reach their goals for a better, more vibrant downtown.
